Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber - Funded Attendee

Access to SSPRD (formerly known as CPD, LBR or PBE) funded by Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber (HEYH) is available to those who meet the following criteria:

The applicant:
- Is employed by an organisation providing NHS commissioned services, within the Yorkshire & Humber geographical region
- Is a specialist, qualified, health and social care clinician
- Meets the entry criteria of the programme and have support from their employing organisation and manager


Detailed Description

An understanding of the healing process is essential for all practitioners, whether working in general or specialist clinics, and whether delivering private or NHS care.

A significant number of patients present with complex systemic disorders which have a major impact on the wound healing process, and successful management of these patients relies heavily on understanding how the normal process changes as a result of disease.

Appropriate management also involves an appreciation of wound management techniques and their limitations, as well as the importance of good clinical communication and multi-disciplinary team working.

Briefly, course content includes:

  • Physiology of inflammatory process and normal wound healing
  • Factors affecting tissue viability and healing
  • Complex wound management
  • Dressing selection
  • Future developments in wound management
