There’s nowhere on earth quite like Newcastle - and now, thanks to overwhelming demand, you can enjoy the moving story of the city as captured on film over the past 100 years, with our astonishing new DVD revealing ‘Newcastle on Film’.

Sheila Graber was born in South Shields, Tyne & Wear in 1940. Trained in Fine Art and Education, she began animating “just for fun” in 1970. Ten years later the hobby turned into a profession as she gave up her post as Head of Creative Studies at a large comprehensive school to pursue animation full time.

This special DVD was produced by the North East Film Archive, working closely with Sunderland Council’s Library Services.  Featuring footage from our vaults and additional material from ITV Archives and the BFI National Archive, Sunderland on Film is a great opportunity to look back and celebrate the city’s glorious past.
