This training course has been designed to provide a deeper understanding and gain knowledge of bereavement and grief. It is suitable for everyone who wants to understand what bereavement and grief is and how you can help, whilst also looking after yourself. The course will focus on the differences between grief, bereavement and mourning and will give examples of signs and symptoms of grief to look out for in children, young people and adults. It will address ways to support those in mourning. The course gives the opportunity to address the support and changes an individual or workplace needs to make.
Detailed Description
Course facilitator bio: Stef Bricklebank has over 26 years’ experience of working with people within diverse communities. With a PGCE in the post 16 sector, Stef is a qualified youth worker, has a postgrad in Dramatherapy and BA (Hons) in Communication Arts/Drama. Based in York, Stef is an educator and therapeutic facilitator offering 1:1, group sessions and motivational speeches. Stef is a freelance practitioner for York Women's Counselling Service (YWCS) and has recently completed Phase I of a research programme alongside York St John, YWCS and the community regarding menopause. As part of the project Stef also facilitated the Menopause Peer Support Group based at YSJ communities centre. Stef’s facilitative approach creates a safe and supportive space for participants to share, learn and explore with others. Stef’s dedication to helping individuals achieve personal growth shines through in her engaging, positive, and practical sessions.

Cancellation by delegates
We appreciate that there may be occasions where you are unable to attend a CPD course and need to cancel your booking, and we aim to make the process as straight forward as possible. To cancel your place on a CPD course, workshop or other CPD event which requires payment, notice of cancellation must be given ASAP by email to [email protected]. If your course fee is paid by your organisation, then please be aware that you will need to inform your manager directly.
If you are a fee payer, you may be able to receive a refund depending on when you inform us of the cancellation:
- If you cancel more than 14 days prior to the start of the course you will receive a full refund.
- If you cancel between 7-14 days prior to the start of the course you will receive a 50% refund.
- If you cancel less than 7 days before the event you will not be entitled to a refund.
If you are unable to attend but wish to transfer the booking to someone else, you can do this up to the day before the course starts without any further cost by contacting us via email.
Cancellation by York St John University
In some circumstances we may need to take the decision to cancel a CPD course, workshop or event. In this case all delegates will be offered a full refund, and if appropriate, be offered priority booking on any rescheduled course in the future. It may also be possible to transfer a booking to another CPD course, if appropriate.
